Can't say much about the food, we walked out. We stopped by for a late lunch on a rainy day. The inside room had another table occupied against the back wall. We wanted to sit several tables away next to the light, and away from the other table. But server insisted that we sit next to only other occupied table. Bye bye.
Absolutely fantastic food. Steak perfect (medium rare) veg & salad spot on even the salad dressing. Hope launceston appreciates what they have!
After a 45 minute wait after ordering my mother and I finally got our meals. We had to ask where our food was as people who arrived 20 minutes after we ordered were receiving their food before us. We ordered venison burgers which certainly were not venison but instead had to be some kind of mix which was most likely beef. My mother ended up with 4 large bits of gristle in her burger which should not have been found in a venison burger or any burger in fact. I only got 2 small bits that tasted like venison which was great but it made the rest of the burger really disappointing. I will not be going back nor do I recommend anyone goes.
Despite the detailed descriptions on the menu, the food was below average in taste and above average in price. "Crispy" skinned salmon had a limp skin. The crispy skin chicken was very bland and poorly seasoned. The crispy skin was tiny and hardly worth serving. A very disappointing meal.
Great bar and restaurant setting in a lovely old building.A good menu range with reasonable pricing, ditto the wine list.Our food was excellent, our wine (a well priced French Bordeaux) also lovely, however the service let us down. A bad start when our booking couldn't be found (misspelling to blame apparently) then we waited 20 minutes after being seated for menus and attention. The next two waiters did a better job, so not all bad.Will definitely return for another attempt...
