When I lived in Launceston, this was my favourite place to come by far. The cucumber oysters are amazing in every way. I crave them all the time and am considering a trip back just to eat them.
Tonight was a celebration of my 70th birthday. I had the best time at this amazing restaurant. The wait staff were so very pleasant and accommodating. Our drinks waiter Jeremy, was just the most delightful man. I was made to feel so special. The food is superb.I would highly recommend this dining experience.
Casual fine dining without being pretentious. The seafood and service will speak for themselves. The wait staff are attentive without being a nuisance. The seafood we ate was immaculate (Ceviche and Platter for 2) with a large list of beverages to match. There was also a meat, and a vegetarian main for the haters. The chef and staff were VERY accommodating with our allergy requirements. Bookings are essential if you want to eat at popular times. We were quite happy to nurse a beer or two outside with views into Cataract Gorge and West Launceston over the Tamar whilst we waited.
I thought the staff were friendly enough until I realised that my tiger prawns were undercooked. I thought, in hospitality that the customer is always right, however I was told that they were in fact cooked but the chef would cook some more. I have eaten prawns all over the world and feel I have knowledge and a refined palette, so I was shocked when I was the one to feel berated and in question.When we left, we were blatantly ignored by the staff who welcomed us in.
The staff were super friendly and the food was great. Lots of great local seafood choices. Next time I visit Launceston I'll be sure to come here again.
